Splurge vs. Save – Sorel Boots

I’ve been eyeing these Sorel boots for weeks. Normally I would order these beauties and not think twice , however, this year Dave and I are looking to move into a new, bigger apartment….which means I have to pay more attention to what I am spending. A good compromise is finding the look for less, right? If I spend less than half, I am saving money! At least that is what I tell myself.

On my hunt to find Sorel look-a- like boots, I found three dupes. Two under $50 and one under $100. Sounds like a win to me! I LOVE finding the look for less!

Check out the look for less here:

Sorel Boots $180

Daviccino from Overstock $49

Merona from Target $45

Pacific Mountain from DSW $90

You can’t go wrong with any of these budget friendly options. I’m off to order mine!

Happy Shopping!!

2018 Bucket List

I’m a few days late on my bucket list review. I’m not one for New Year’s Resolutions. I’ve made and broke enough of those to not trust myself with nonsense like that.

A few years ago I decided to start a bucket list instead of making New Year’s Resolutions.I use this bucket list journal to document my memories. My son will have to read these memories to me when I am 100 years old and batty!

My number one bucket list item:  Travel some place new every year. Growing up my Grandmother wouldn’t fly, so we drove from NY to Orlando, Florida every year and spent 2 weeks in Disney World. I love Disney, have amazing memories there, been there  20 plus times (lost count after a while), and will happily return, but I knew there was a great big world out there and I hadn’t seen it. Since then, I’ve been to Miami, Boston, Rhode Island, Vegas, St, Thomas, Bermuda, Barbados, Curacao,  Aruba, St. Kitts, Mexico, and last year I took the most amazingly beautiful two and a half week trip to Italy. I spent a week in Sorrento with my job and then 10 days driving the Amalfi coast, then across Italy to Bari, where Dave’s family is from. I’ll post more on that later.  I truly believe you learn more traveling than you ever will from a text book.

My bucket list looks something like this, no particular order

  1. Compete in Iron Man before I turn 40 (really should get moving on this one)
  2. Go Sky Diving
  3. Fly an F-16…this one will probably never happen, as I have horrible motion sickness
  4. Run a full marathon
  5. Go to Bora Bora and stay in an over water bungalow
  6. Go to Verona and see Juliet’s Balcony
  7. Learn another language
  8. Visit a new State, City, Island, and/or Country every year
  9. Get Beach Body Certified and Open a gym (this one made it on here when I used to work out 3 hours a day, should really start doing that again)
  10. Get Bachelors Degree
  11. Better control of my finances ( I would spend my last dollar on lipstick)
  12. Try something new every month
  13. Hike in a Rain Forrest
  14. Eat in The Grotto in Polignano A Mare
  15. Start a Blog
  16. Zip line

I’ve been lucky enough to check a few of these items off, in 2015 I Hiked a Rain Forrest in San Juan & Zip lined over Rain Forrest in St. Kitts, last year I ate in The Grotto Restaurant while in Polignano vacationing, I started a blog, and I’ve been visiting a new place every year since I started this list.

This year, I added “try something new every month”. January I will be learning calligraphy and/or hand-lettering…or at least try to.. My handwriting is awful, so this should be interesting. I’ll keep you posted on how this goes.

My Top Budget Friendly Nordstrom Picks

I spent most of Saturday personal shopping for a friend online at Nordstrom.com. It was a whopping 3 degrees in New York,  I made a good life choice by staying in, under the covers, watching Fixer Upper,  and shopping!

In my trip down the online shopping worm whole, I came across some the cutest budget friendly Nordstrom finds. My “client”..AKA Best Friend might like budget friendly finds even more than me, so she ordered almost everything I sent her way. I ended up ordering a few of these items for myself…  Which led me to add a Goal to my 2018 Goal list: when shopping for others, I don’t need to buy one for me too. I’m a realist, so I know I’m basically setting myself up for failure on that one.

Budget Friendly Finds

Shop these items here:

BP. Ombre sweater – Under $38 and this sweater is so cozy and warm. I own it in burgundy and will most likely snag it in gray too!

Ugg Elora Bootie – Under $105! Nordstrom is having an awesome Ugg sale, now is the time to pick up a pair of these bad boys.

Carlson Side Tie Pullover – Under $40, side ties, and comes in Pink…you know I’m sold. This cutie also comes in olive, navy, and solid black

Carlson Peplum Tee – Under $26. I love this under the BP Ombre Sweater or on own. Comes in 3 other colors, but you know I ordered in pink for myself!

BP. Stripe Sweater – Stripes are my fave. This sweater is just too cute and only $45!

1822 Denim Butter Jeans – The name of these guys DOES NOT disappoint, they are literally like wearing butter, not that I’ve worn butter, but if I did…I bet it would fee like these. Best part, they are only $39!! True to size, 27 is my usual size and they fit great.

Kut from the Kloth Donna Skinny Jeans – Another pair of jeans for under $40. Kut from the Kloth is one of my favorite brands. These cuties come in olive and wine.
